Need a good book to pair with your Somali chai on a quiet evening? Then read Nadifa Mohamed’s “Black Mamba Boy”. Nadifa moved from Somalia to London at age five where she later pursued history and politics at Oxford University. “Black Mamba Boy” is her prize winning first work which is a semi-autobiographical account of her father’s life in Yemen in the 1930s and 40s, during the colonial period. Read her interview by the Guardian here and check out the New York Times review of her first novel here.
